WOYWW 270

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, or Good Evening friends, thanks for dropping by to snoop at my desktop and, many others, if you follow the link to The lady of the Desks, Madam Julia.
This week I have been trying re-arrange some craft stuff and my work space. So I got out the large glass mat and put it in the midde of the work desk, that way I had space on both sides of where I was working, instead of just to the right. so far so good. Then I realised that cutting tools and paper were under where I used to work and I was walking up and down much more. Right let's swap cupboard contents, but that won't work because OH put extra shelves in the corner of the far cupboard so if I move sets of drawers into that space I will block off the shelves!!  So I have done nothing more and I am left with two work mats and stuff spread over double the space and the system still doesn't work very well.
I decided to take a picture from a different angle this week, so hauled myself up on the surface, stood up and took the picture from above.
You can clearly see the two mats, the nearer one has a couple of cards on it using the same layout. I'd made the blue one first and then discovered that the recipient likes pinks and browns, so I started again anticipating that it should be more or less identical but it came out very different.
Behind those on that mat you can see a nativity stencil which I will probably play with next week.
At the far end you can see the, mostly finished Christmas cards from the stamping and embossing that was on my desk a couple of weeks ago.

There is also some antique lace that I found in the attic when I was looking for something else today, it might end up on a card sometime, and back left is a pile of, what Margaret calls 'Unfinished Symphonies' Seems to be a never ending supply of those.
And these are the Christmas cards, just awaiting inserts, unless I decide to do something more to them.
And this beauty was on the damson tree and I just couldn't resist taking a picture of him/her.  I suspect it is female as the Peacock butterfly female is larger and she was well over 2 1/2 inches wide.
God's beautiful creation!
Well I'm off to snoop, won't you join me?
Chris

PS, Don't usually edit after I have posted but visitors seem concerned about me climbing on the desk to take pictures, so i thought I would just post a picture to reassure you that the worktop is very solid. I was standing where the cup is.
Bye now

Beautiful pic of the butterfly - it seems to have been a good summer for insects generally, doesn't it? And the birds are on their second brood as well....it's good to see :-)
I've got this mental image of you teetering on your desk to take that pic! It's a good angle though and gives a different view of your lovely desk!

Aha, the 'try this' stage of using your lovely space. Bet you end up back where you started! it's a bit late to say this but am nervous of you climbing onto your desk...good grief gal, it's not the up, it's the getting down that scares me actually! Although you have shot a great view. Your Christmas cards are gorgeous. I've made one so far, and it looks a little, well, as if it were made in the mid summer!

Don't tell anyone but I climb on things too. I am only five foot and it can be difficult to reach things. I am forever getting into trouble when I get caught so don't let on I told you.
Have a good week and happy crafting, Angela x 38

Having seen the last photo I now have the image of your neighbours casually glancing out of their window and seeing you levitating by the window :)
Love the lace, a great find.
Happy Wednesday

My desk is NOT that sturdy, but I do tend to climb on chairs and the kitchen counter (not the food prep side!) And ACK! reorganizing a craft space has to be the most rewarding and frustrating thing to do. Muscle memory takes me back the where the thing I want WAS for months after :) Christmas cards.... well, I'm dealing with it cause not everyone is the horrible procrastinator that I am.... :)

Happy WOYWW!

Lets face it the more space we have the more we will fill it and there is always something we need to change and accommodate the fad we are encountering at the time, but that will change eventually too. Love your cards and you are getting ahead of the Christmas card creation process, good for you.

Well, how about that - now you have two places to work along your huge space. Climbing on the surface??? Is that recommended - you must have felt incredibly high up...! Some lovely cards there. Have a great week - Happy birthday to Uncle Jack!!
Take care. God bless.

It looks like you have a great working space! I'm always standing on chairs (carefully) to take photos :)
Thanks for dropping by and for your nice comments. Much appreciated.

I have a nice long work space like you do, and how is it that it never seems to be enough space?!?! Haha! You're looks SO MUCH BETTER than mine right now. My desk is 14 linear feet long and I have the tiny space you saw in my photo in which to work. The rest is piled high with stuff I need to either put away or find a place for! Your cards are GORGEOUS!!! Looks like you've been busy!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog about our daughter's wedding! Luckily, we're not having to go through empty nest syndrome on top of everything else! She's 28 and been out of college and on her own for years, so that was something we went through years ago...and trust me, I DIDN'T handle being an empty nester very well for quite a while! We're just so super happy for her...I believe she's found the perfect man for her.

I like the long working area. I think an L shape is probably better, but I don't have room for that. Love the blue and pink cards. Had to smile at you standing on your worktop to take the photo:)

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

What a wonderfully large amount of space you have - and it looks so organised. I do believe that however much room I was given to work in I would still fill it up and need a little bit more! I love the cards - it always seems to early to start them, but it will soon be on us! Many thanks for stopping by my desk, I hope you have a great week,
