WOYWW 274

Good morning and welcome to my WOYWW post. For those who don't know what WOYWW is, nip over to Julia's  where all will be revealed.
So WOYWW is about our desks, and frankly I have spent so little time in the tower in the last couple of weeks, I could post you a desk view from my last post, so instead a finished UFO
And this was the card I made for one of my two lovely son's in law

Idea lifted unashamedly from Pinterest,  which sadly does not seem to be offer suitable inspiration for  this week's urgent task, which is to produce a birthday card for a 10 year old great nephew.  Boys are alien creature, I was one of four girls, had two of my own, and just don't understand boys, especially boys who don't seem to have any passionate interest in anything.
So that's all from me this week, thank you for dropping in,
Bless you
Chris

Afraid I cannot help with 'boy cards' Chris, I find them difficult too. I love the computer card you have made though, what a great idea - I ned instructions as I can see that being a good one for someone not too far away from me right now.
Love the photos of canal life - it is something I have always longed to do, go for a canal holiday, but now am too old to leap about with those locks and things. Sounds idyllic though!
Take care, visit the tower and just enjoy the nice things in life.
Stay safe and well
Blessings, Neet 9 xx

Well I’d have been very happy if I’d been given that card, it’s wonderful. I’m very impressed no matter where your inspiration came from.
Stay safe Mrs D

G'morning Mrs D :)

I agree that Pinterest has a lot of interesting images for inspirations. I go there sometimes to see if I can get some.

I am writing a story where a lady has a name starts with D, I call her Mrs D hehe. I love both your photos and the card. When card to men I use steampunk images, cars or sports images. AND yes!! it is hard to make cards for men, for sure.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Happy WOYWW

Well, I think your Gt nephew would like that computer card as much as anything! I can do boys but not girls :-). It's a clever idea and you could turn it to all sorts. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been remiss in crafting this week, thanks Chris, you've made me feel better!

Morning Chris. 'Twas good to chat the other day - sorry you still have no inspiration for the card - although I have to say, I love Matt's card! Brilliant. Jan's idea of a similar one isn't bad... most youngsters like their computer... That jigsaw really is great - good to see a larger shot of it, the phone screen is a bit small.
Take care of yourselves - trust you haven't suffered from all the time spent planting out yesterday - at least the plants are getting watered in!!
Stay safe. God bless.

I think we all turn to Pinterest for inspiration and you definitely made a perfect choice. Boys are a curious species they ones I know at that age all seem to make youTube clips or watch others making youTube clips. As I said earlier stranger little fellows. Well done with your jigsaws.

HI Chris, if you're stuck for inspiration, can I suggest going to FB and looking up Eileen Godwin. She did some videos last week- she only puts them on FB, not You Tube- just sponging on some ink into abstract shapes, then adding the age stamped over. They were fab, really easy and I'd say ideal for awkward teenagers (probably all of them, lol).Lovely job on the cards you made.Stay safe,Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #12 X

Boys (and men!!) really are so hard to craft for. Perhaps just their name in big letters, a 10 and a load of balloons? An exploding box card would make it special. Good Luck!! I dolike the card you managed to do, especially the mouse!! Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #25

Oh that’s me Chris, I come from girls and have a girl..indeed, my nephew is the first boy in our family for 62 years! I would like to help, but am useless, the very idea makes me shiver!! But..you could do worse than a version of that brilliant card that you’ve made for Matt, if nothing else, all youngsters are into phones and tablets and PCs! well done with that huge puzzle, knowing a place and being familiar doesn’t make them any easier does it, such a great idea, great gift!

I know how you feel about cards for boys, my brain just packs up. If they have an interest it's easy otherwise it might have to be a balloon card. Wishing you a happy woyww and a great crafty week, Angela x15x

Any 10 year old boy I know likes gaming and eating! It's a funny age isn't it?! I do love the computer card too. Best wishes, Lisa-Jane #17

That's a fun computer card, Chris, and I love the canal pictures too. In the past we've had lovely canal holidays - a slower pace of life and you feel very close to nature. Regarding not understanding boys, it reminds m of my best friend from school, one of 3 sisters. Her sisters have produced only girls, and she herself started with a girl, and then she proceeded to produce a boy and she didn't know what to do with him! She used to say to him, "Do try and behave like a lady - I mean a gentleman" lol!! She then had another girl, and finally a second boy, by which time I think she was coping better! We are mostly girls on my side of the family (my mum had a sister, I have a sister, and I have 2 girl cousins and then my aunt surprised us all by having a boy) but my hubby's side is nearly all boys! Funny how it works out that way.

Happy belated WOYWW,
