WOYWW 477

Another week gone by, and far too fast for my liking.
A week in we which travelled back to North Wales for the funeral of a lovely Godly lady, who died far too young. She was one of those people who was always a presence in a room, and she will leave a very large hole in the world. It was very traumatic to see her children and her husband talk about her at the church in front of around 200 people, although clearly nowhere near as traumatic as it was for them. On Friday we travelled home, taking 6 hours over what should have been a three hour one.
On Saturday I  finished the card which was on my desk last week, for my sister who's anniversary was on Monday! Late again!

So my desk, picture taken Tuesday evening.
What you can mainly see is a pile of bits for making Christmas cards. Over the years I seem to have accumulated a lot of bits, toppers, sentiments, embellishments,  and I have promised myself that I will use up lots of them this year, so I can do something new next year. We also need to get cards out very early to make sure people have our new aďdress.
If you want to see more interesting desks, go to our wonderful host Julia at her Stamping Ground  where you can find links to lots of desks to snoop at
When that's all from me, Happy WOYWW and thanks for visiting
Chris

  1. Hi Chris, I don't blame you for taking your time over the journey, it is far too hot for sitting in a car for too long. It's so nice to see that you have a proper desk to work at for Christmas cards this year. Hope you manage to alert everyone as to your change of address. Have a great week and hope it cools down soon. Sarah #13

  2. The Christmas cards! I am sure you will make some beauties and have a good time as well ..... then there's the satisfaction afterwards of a good job done.
Hope you can remember the safe place they're in when it comes time to write and post!!!
    Have fun

  3. Sorry to read about your friend. Your anniversary card is lovely. And I am impressed that you are another person who is using up your old stash this year. Seems lots of people are using old so they can start new next year. Happy WOYWW from # 1.

  4. Sorting out christmas-embellishments in these tropical temperatures? Sounds like a weird thing to do but fun at the same time. Stay cool, warm(!) hug from Holland, Marit #21

  5. Hi Chris, I can believe that travel time, we saw horrendous traffic queues at the weekend, fortunately we were going in the opposite direction to them!Lovely card. Did you see my second comment last week about the Condolences stamp? Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 XxX

  6. Condolences. I met Marion very briefly at the last Crop and she was all bright eyes and enthusiasm for our get together, instantly kind. We have to say goodbye to my dear Father In Law next week and I’ve opted to say something at the service. It is the hardest thing isn’t it. Mind you Chris, I don’t think Christmas cards are easy to get in to in this weather either, I admire your application, and I think the new address reason is probably a really good motivator! Glad you’re finding time to craft, hope you’re feeling more and more ‘embedded’ as the days go by. Bet your like the cat with the cream living so close to the water, I would love it!

  7. I enjoyed meeting Marion at the Crop too and can't believe that she passed away at such a relatively young age - I'm so pleased that there were so many people at the funeral, shows how much she made a mark on the world. Your cards are beautiful but I can't even think about Christmas in this heat!

  8. Morning Chris. Wahey! Look at all that activity on your new desk! Brilliant. Great card - even if it is late - I'm sure folk will understand. Was good to see you last week - even though the reason for you coming over wasn't the easiest.
    Take care. God bless.

  9. Sympathy to you and yours. It seems so many special people pass younger than they should. I feel for the children left behind and the spouse who has looked forward to a future of retirement doing fun things together. We've had so many this year also. And your Christmas stash seems what I just organized and was thinking...WAY TO MUCH.. Hoping you all enjoy some cool weather Happy WOYWW kind of week.

  14. Very sad to hear when someone is taken too young, really sorry to hear Chris.
Well done on keeping all those bits and bobs together and making a start on your Christmas cards, i'd just loose them if I made them now & not be able to find them when needed.

  15. So sorry to hear about your friend, my sincere condolences! Traveling by car is one of my least fave way to travel and that has to do with the traffic jams. But glad you made it home eventually! Great card you made too. Happy rest of the week! xo Cheetarah #28
