MESSY DESK ALERT

Well as usual my desk is so messy that I haven't shown you the bulk of it, just the working part.
Trying to keep it tidy is just beyond me, so I'll just share what I am at at the moment.
On the left you can see my box of inks, the dewdrop inks, I like those for stamping. Behind the box are some dies from China that haven't been put away yet, I think they have only been there for about three weeks. To the right of the box is a card I started making and reached 'Not sure what to do next stage' so it will join the box of 'unfinished symphonies' until I have further inspiration.
On the right front corner of the glass mat is something I have working on for a swap, so had to cover it with the glue before I took the pic, and then on the extreme right is a card I was playing with and was please with the result until I realised that I got water on it and there is a smudge in the top left corner. More inspiration needed to work out how I conceal that.
So why am I telling you this, because it is 'What's on Your Worktop Wednesday' hosted by the wonderful Julia at her Stamping ground. where we willing expose our crafty desks so that others can snoop at them, but more than than, we make good friends.
Sorry I have been AWOL for a while, we have been out on our boat, and while I do manage some craft work there, internet access for blogging is not always brilliant, and the time available for replying to comments is even more limited, too many locks to do!  As I haven't managed to share much craft with you recently, I will let you see where I have been over the past couple of weeks.
Sunset over the Shropshire Union canal and

a spring morning on Shropshire Union canal.
And if you don't know what a lock is,
this is the type of lock that has to worked by hand and you can see the next one in the near distance too, and there are a lot of them on some stretches or the system
Thank you for visiting, I will try to reply to all your lovely comments.
and have a wonderful Wednesday.

Chris

the pictures are worth waiting for, although it sounds hard work getting through all those locks! a tidy desk is an unused desk, i always tell myself... although quite often, an untidy desk is too....Happy WOYWW Helen #2

Ooh, I have always fancied a canal holiday, unfortunately the other half doesn't share my enthusiasm and to be honest I think I would be hopeless steering and dealing with locks etc. A few years ago maybe.... Thanks for the photos keep them coming, you must get some lovely shots.
As for your desk, looks nice and busy on the glass mat and I am sure you can cover the blotch up, crafters are good at that kind of thing.
Enjoy your day with Margaret.

Happy WOYWW. I love the artwork on canal boats and the things they decorate them with. I think it is Shoshi who does some of it? We had a friend whose parents had a canal boat and we used to get excited about going for a trip on it. Until after about the first hour, when it was usually a cold/wet winters day and the excitement of the first lock had worn off!! We go and stay up in the Brecon Beacons on a campsite close to the canal, and enjoy walking down it to the nearest pub. Ali x #10

Morning Chris. Great shot of the lock - I wonder how many folk realise that the water level at that point could easily be 12feet below you?! See you later. God bless.

Oh, I bet you're a lock supremo by now! Lovely pics from your boat tours, I miss the Kennet and Avon, there was always something to see! Are you going to be able to join us at the Crop on 30th Sept? It would be so lovely to meet you in real life! Margaret is being a star doing all the organising :-D

I spotted the use of some Tim Holtz mixed media dies too! It seems like you have lots of projects on the go. My parents had a boat when I was a child. I don't miss the locks, especially the Atherton Flight when we were heading down the Coventry Canal. I can understand why you didn't manage much crafting. Sarah #26

Hi Chris, lovely scenic photos. Smiled at your 'unfinished symphony', I have a box full of UFO's- UnFinished Objects. It's one of those things that happens, isn't it, inspiration just ups and wanders off part way through. I love using those TH Mixed Media dies- I have a pile of them cut on my desk, but I'm distracted by a Christmas Card Club Challenge, needing 2 Mothers Day cards and a 45th Birthday before I can get back to them.Oh well. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxXx

Lovely photos. It looks very serene though hard work getting through the locks.

You look pretty organised on your desk. I like the colours on the paper to the right.

I don't hold tidiness as a virtue. Lovely travel log.

Your canal photos are beautiful. You were certainly lucky with the weather, it looks very serene.
It's so annoying when you get a splodge on your artwork isn't it. It's usually glue with me, I'm so messy but something can usually be found to cover it up so don't despair, I'm sure you'll find the perfect thing in the end.
Have a good week.

Your desk doesn't look so messy to me, just interesting. I like dew drop inks too - they are a handy size and come in lovely colours. I have to confess that I've just gotten round to putting my china dies away - unused. I really need a slapped hand for that! Hope you have a great week and find a way of disguising that smudge. Your desk doesn't look very messy to me, Chris! It just looks as if a nice lot is going on. I love your other photos and they bring back memories of happy canal holidays in the past. Thank you for your lovely comment - unfortunately it looks highly unlikely now that the insurance will cover the necessary work to deal with the damp. So glad you like my Infusions samples! I'm trying to be sensible and not get overtired and with everything else going on at the moment I can't really focus on art, and this afternoon I've been really tired!! My body tells me what it needs so I have rested.

Happy belated WOYWW,
