WOYWW 224

First of all can I thank all those lovely peeps who left comments on my WOYWW last week and I am sorry I wasn't able to visit you all.  If any of you looked at our boating progress on Saturday you will notice that I commented then that I had had no internet for several days and by the time Saturday had arrived it was a bit late for visiting then.
Well on my worktop today, yesterday, is the tally of cards I have made so far, since we left home, 16 of them which is not bad considering that we have also travelled 145 miles and opened and closed 100 locks.
(For those who don't know what is involved with operating a lock,  go to YouTube and look for How to get through a narrow lock. Sorry I can't give a URL, can't work out how to do it on my tablet,  but there are plenty to choose from.)
Then add in some rain,  some wind, an absence of lubrication on the lock gear making it stiff, and you might get some idea about why I have only managed 16 cards.
I have also made some hats for Innocent's Big knit. If you are interested look at the website. They give money to Age Uk for every hat sold.
I have actually knitted a couple more but not got them in the picture yet.

We are now plodding up the Stratford canal and I will post some more piccies later in the week but it has been so wet I couldn't take any of the canal today.

For anyone who wants to know more about the trip and the boat, I have some previous postings with pictures of our trip.

Anyway Happy WOYWW
Chris

Looks like a challenge getting through those locks to me, but a great adventure I am sure. Beautiful cards especially love the one front and center with all the trees on it.

Happy WOYWW

Well done Chris! Lovely cards. I'm afraid all those locks doesn't sound like a restful holiday to me. We are looking forward to our holiday in Devon - not long now! Have a good day, love and hugs, John W #71.

Hi Chris - and Mr D!! Glorious picture of Bendithion on the Stratford and Avon - and what sunshine that day!!! Bring some back when you return - it's freezing here. Those cards are great - and those hats.... lovely.
Have a great day - and don't rush, your house is quite safe under the guardianship of the rottweiller and several others.
Love n hugs to both,
Margaret #70

I bet you've got biceps of steel after all those lock gates! It is jolly hard work when the elements/lack of oil are working against you.... Glad you're enjoying your trip though.
Those little hats are fun, I didn't realise the campaign was on again. Must have missed that!

Hi Chris
oh I so wish I was doing the journey with you it is something I have always wanted to do but there is no chance of that now with my disability and health problems.
I am amazed you have managed to make that many cards while doing everything else well done
Have a great day today and a wonderful weekend

Hey 16 cards is still 16 cards, so that's definitely better than nothing. Love the little hats for the smoothie bottles, and your trip looks fantastic, hope the rain stops!

Me again! I made the cowl pattern up.... Chinky wool, 8mm crochet hook.

Chain 14
Chain 3 (first treble of next row) in 3rd link from hook
Chain 1 then treble in next but one stitch. Repeat to end then two trebles in last stitch.
Turn
Chain up 3' then chain1, treble, in the spaces across the row, two trebles in last space.

And that's it! Work until you can wrap it around twice, then join the ends together (witha twist if you want an infinite scarf.
Hope this makes sense...I've never written down a crochet pattern before!

You are so creative. Love the triangle Christmas tree card. I smiled when reading your stuff on canals and locks. We used to go on the canal a lot and so I can relate to the hard work involved lo. Lovely blog too btw!
